Howard G. Tomlin Obituary

Howard George Tomlin, of Hamden, passed away on July 26, 2022. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 4, 1949 to the late Howard F and Gertrude Olson Tomlin. He was married to the love of his life, Lorelei Milewski Tomlin for almost 50 years. Howard was the beloved father to Christopher H. (Lisa) Tomlin and Heather Tomlin, the loving brother of Jeffrey Tomlin and the late Clifford Tomlin and Diana Calvacante. Howard was a draftsman by trade and retired as a Quality Control manager after a long career in manufacturing. After retirement, he transitioned to his favorite role, being grandpa “Buddy” to his two granddaughters, Victoria Rose and Julia Elizabeth. He always made sure both his girls had an endless supply of love, candy, and YouTube. Howard had a life-long passion for history (particularly Civil War reenacting), vexology (love of flags) and his beloved Green Bay Packers (Go Pack Go!). Family was especially important to him and every Sunday in the fall, you could find Howard in his Packers room surrounded by his family (and more Packers memorabilia than you can imagine) cheering for the team he had loved since the ‘60s. Howard always looked forward to the family’s trips to Lambeau Field, whether it was for training camp or a regular season game. Nothing made Howard happier than a Packers win and a Vikings or Bears loss. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council #1, Past Grand Knight of Rev. Carl Sherer Council #10871, and Past Faithful Navigator of Commodore John Barry Assembly #097. Howard was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all friends and family. Visiting hours will be Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 in the Lupinski Funeral Home, Inc. 821 State Street, New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Stanislaus Church, New Haven at 11am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 8401 Colesville Road, Suite 200, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
