Douglas Roy Aagaard

Douglas R. Aagaard, 90, of Menominee, Michigan, passed away on July 26, 2022 in Marinette, Wisconsin. He was born August 19th, 1931, in Marinette to Ernest and Elizabeth Aagaard and resided in this area all of his life. He graduated from Marinette High School, Class of 1949. Doug married Mary Jane Piquette on May 9,1953. Doug served his country honorably during the Korean War in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 aboard the Aircraft Carrier, The USS Mindoro. They returned to the Marinette/ Menominee area in 1955. He was a bricklayer/mason for more than 40 years and worked for many contractors throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. He was a member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers union in Green Bay. Doug enjoyed golfing at North Shore and was a member for over 50 years, a Past Commander of the Amvets, and he also enjoyed bowling and running beagles in competition for many years. Doug is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; children: David, Jeff (Vivi), Sue (John) Klumb, Jim, Sharon (Joe) Callahan and John (Esther); eight grandchildren: Dr. Brad (Sarah) Klumb, Mike (Kimberly) Klumb, Ashley (Mike) Von Hoffman, Ryan Aagaard, Heather, Michelle and Austin Aagaard and Sarah Callahan; and four great grandchildren: Luca Klumb, Morgan, Brooke and Peyton Klumb. He is also survived by two sisters: Pat Ahrens and Nancy (Harold) Miller. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Aagaard and an infant son. At Doug’s request, a private service will be held at Anderson Kell Funeral Home. The remains will be cremated. The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area, especially the nurses who assisted our Dad - Tina, Rebecca and Amanda. Your care and compassion will not be forgotten.
