Lorena Swanson, 68, of Flanders, NJ passed away on July 23, 2022 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. Lorena was born on May 25, 1954 in Caracas, Venezuela to the late Augustin and Teresa Lares de Lleras. She graduated high school while living in South America and moved to the United States when she was 19 years of age. After 25 years and varying roles in the pharmaceutical industry, Lorena retired from Greenstone (Pfizer) where she touched many lives along the way. She was a loyal friend, colleague, family member and developed a passion for volunteer work. Lorena spent a lot of meaningful time helping at Happiness is Camping, a camp for children with cancer in Hardwick Twp., NJ.
Lorena took great pride in the way she lived her life and was blessed with a creative mind and a keen eye for interior decorating and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the world with her friends and family. Her greatest passion in life was her love for her family, especially her husband, sons, and grandchildren. She was often a maternal figure to many people and would feel joy when entertaining and making people feel at home.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years. Lawrence "Larry" Swanson; two devoted sons, Herbert Swanson, and Joseph Swanson and his wife Kim; six cherished grandchildren, Devon, Gavin, Ryan, Ethan, JJ, and Cali; and by many other loving family members and friends.
Lorena's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Friday July 29th, 2022 from 3pm – 8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Route 206), Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday July 30, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Luke Parish in Long Valley, NJ. Interment will be held privately by her family.
