Patricia Nugent

Patricia Yates Sullivan Nugent (June 9, 1932-July 23, 2022) After a lengthy illness, Patricia passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022, surrounded by her three sons. Pat was born to Ethelda Tatterson Sullivan and Eugene Dennis Sullivan in 1932 in Shanghai, China, a fact she sometimes used to amuse herself and surprise others. Her father was in the Navy and was assigned to a ship in China at the time. After his Naval service ended, the family moved to Santa Monica, California. Eugene Sullivan died suddenly at age 42 in 1947. Eventually, Ethelda married his first cousin, James W. Kiernan, who became a wonderful stepfather to Pat. The Kiernan family eventually settled in Wilmette, Illinois. Pat graduated from New Trier High School and from Northwestern University. In 1955, Pat married James E. Nugent Jr. They settled in Northfield, Illinois, where they raised four children. Pat could be found on the beach and at the pool, ball yards, and tennis courts, faithfully watching her children grow up. She took up tennis and golf and did volunteer work at Loyola Academy. Pat and Jim were longtime members of St. Phillip The Apostle Church in Northfield. Pat is survived by her sons Jim (Vicki) Nugent, Michael (Ann) Nugent, Mark Nugent, Son-In-Law Steve Pisanelli, her brothers Terrence Kiernan and Dennis Sullivan, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and her daughter Elizabeth. I'm so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. Such a loving mother to my dear friend Bestsy and three sons. I did get to listened to Mark's beautiful eulogy on line. Rest in peace Pat.
