Rev., Dr. Rodney Edmond Obituary

It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Rev., Dr. Rodney Edmond who entered into rest July 23, 2022.

He was a native of Richland County and a 1973 graduate of  W. J. Keenan High School, Columbia, SC, received a Bachelor's degree from S. C. State University in 1977, a Master's degree from Brenau University and a Doctorate degree in Divinity from Southern Theological Seminary. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

He was a former member of St. John Baptist Church, Columbia and a member of Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, Evans. He was the pastor of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church and served as the Vice Moderator of the Mount Canaan Baptist Association. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Keels Edmond; two sons, Rodney Ryan (JoAnn) Edmond and Nicholas Brent (Maryjane) Edmond; two brothers, Lomon Edmond, Jr. and Felix Andre Edmond; a sister, Sesame Brown; one uncle, Stanley (Linda) Hall, one aunt, Diane Hall; brother-in-law, Watson Keels; sisters-in-law, Dr. Frankie (James) Williams, Dr. Cynthia (Stanley) Hayes, Brenda Fleming and Janice (Marcelles) Sneed; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held from 1-3 pm Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the funeral home and from 5-7 pm Wednesday at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
