Sandra Klever Obituary

Sandy Klever, 74, of Crescent City, CA passed away on January 28, 2017 after a struggle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. Sandra Arnelle Wilkerson was born on New Years Day in 1943 in Tulsa, OK to William Arnold Wilkerson, a Tulsa Police Detective, and to Evelyn Eugenia Miller. She had no other siblings and enjoyed spending time with her grandparents. She yearned to someday have a large family of her own. As a teenager, she thought that she was in love with Elvis Presley and she met her first high school sweetheart, Jim. But Jim didnt exactly look like Elvis and was too tall. After high school, she chose to attend Oklahoma State University. She obtained a four-year college degree in three years, while also working full time. During the summers, she worked as a hostess at Daners Cafeteria. After graduation, she managed a candy stand at the local soda fountain. Then she was offered many teaching jobs on the west coast and Sandy moved to Torrance, CA, in 1965 to teach middle school English. She would walk to school every day, before eventually buying a car (a gold Chevy Impala Super sport!), but yet had no phone or television set. She later took a job with the California Employment Development Department in Torrance where she met Walt Klever, her true love and husband of 37 years. While playing poker one day at friends house; Walt won the game and also Sandys hand in marriage. Sandy lived with Walt and his two teenage children, Doug and Cathy Klever. She later had four children with Walt: Kenneth, Kris, Kimberly, and Kamalee. She moved with Walt to Crescent City, CA in 1972. In her first year in Crescent City, Sandy headed an organization to collect funds for children with Cystic Fibrosis. Sandy joined Beta Sigma Phi-Epsilon Gamma sorority and held every office since joining and was a member for life. She was actively involved with her childrens many activities, such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and cheerleading. She is survived by her four children: Kenny Klever, Kris (Jim) Klever-Weis, Kimberly (Victor) Eguez, and Kami (Eric) Shurden, step-children Doug (Ramalda) Klever and Cathy Klever. Her numerous grandchildren Garrett, Skyler, Trenten, Koen, Peyten, Aiden, Sadie, Griffin and Chella her cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Walt and her mother Evelyn. Sandy will be missed dearly by her family and friends: we will always carry her memory in our hearts.
