Ella LaMontagne

Ella (Roberts) LaMontagne,99, passed away in Rye, NH on July 5th 2022. Born on August 20,1922 in Barnard, Vermont she is the daughter of George and Mary (Burnham) Roberts and youngest of seven siblings. Ella grew up on a farm in Vermont and went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy as a Wave during World War II. Ella and Fern settled to raise their family in Goffstown, NH. She enjoyed working hard and fondly remembered her time working as a Secretary at the St. Anselm Nursing School. She was also the Co-Founder of LaMontagne Builders Inc. In retirement, Ella and Fern became snowbirds, spending half the year in St. Cloud, Florida. She prioritized helping others, whether she was volunteering for Meals On Wheels or helping others with errands and rides to important appointments, she always put others first. Ella also valued exercise for both her body and mind. She was an active swimmer at the YMCA, walker and gardener. Her time spent with family was most valuable to her. Visits with Ella would include an update on what everyone was up to over a game of Rummikub. The game would be followed up with an offer for some of her famous pie and ice cream. She was an avid reader and lover of birds. Her kind and positive spirit would light up any room, and she made a friend everywhere she went. Ella was predeceased by her husband Fernand LaMontagne in 2003, as well as brothers George, Charles, Henry and Woodbury Roberts and sisters Esther (Jackie) Roberts and Olive Davis. She is survived by her daughter Jane Bruno of New Castle, NH and Sarasota, FL; son Robert LaMontagne and wife Sandra of Bedford, NH; Grandchildren Ben Bruno, Los Angeles, CA, Christine Dunham and husband AJ of Bedford, NH and Karen Kitchen and husband Ben of Bedford, NH, as well as 2 great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
