Marvin “Marv” Melvin Davis age 82 of Harrison passed away at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Marvin was born May 31, 1940 in Coldwater, Michigan the son of Kenneth and Goldie (Locklin) Davis. Marvin had resided in Harrison since 1947, moving from Coldwater. Mr. Davis was united in marriage Ms. Carolyn Jane Prescott on July 23, 1960, at Brown Corners Church, Clare, Michigan. Mrs. Davis preceded Marvin in death on April 4, 2017, after fifty-six years of marriage.
Marv was well known for his dedicated work ethic and commitment to his employers. He retired from Brown Machine of Beaverton, Michigan after thirty-one years of dedicated service, retiring as a welder. He also retired from Harrison Community Schools as a maintenance worker with five years of service and for the last forty-five years as owner and operator of Davis Welding of Harrison. When Marv wasn’t busy working, he found time to enjoy deer hunting, scrapping, collecting rocks and boulders, working with heavy equipment and watching televised NASCAR races.
Surviving Mr. Davis are his three daughters: Carla Battle of Harrison, Robin Williams also of Harrison and Donna Matthes and husband Gordon of Cement City, Michigan, daughter-in-law, Jaenea Brooks and husband Larry of Harrison, ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one brother, Ed Davis of Lansing, Michigan, plus numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Davis also was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Melvin Robert Davis, one son-in-law, Bob Williams, nine siblings: Esther Davis, Gene Davis, Velta Parker, Melvin Davis, Laura Ash, Gerald Davis, Polly Bennett, Vern Davis and Loletta DuVall.
Celebration of Life services and a pig roast honoring Mr. Davis will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Marvin and Carolyn’s home, 481 County Farm Road, Harrison, Michigan.
