Obituary

Victor J. Pelosi Jr., 76, died on July 8, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a sudden illness.  He was born in Portland on February 8, 1946, the son of Phyllis and Victor Pelosi.

Jay, as family and friends called him, graduated Portland High School in 1964.  He started out as a bus driver for the Falmouth School Department in 1972.  In August of that year he was in a major car accident that broke his femur.  Once he recovered, he worked as a custodian for Plummer-Motz School from 1972 until 2005 when he retired to take care of his ailing mother.  Jay was a kind soul who liked to joke with all who knew him.  He was an avid reader who had a keen interest in history and politics.

He could converse knowledgeably on most any subject.  He loved to talk about the old days with all the neighborhood friends that came to visit.  Our family is grateful he is now pain free and at peace with his brother, Brian; mother and father.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Diana Pelosi of Westbrook; a nephew, Michael Pelosi of Portland; a niece, Jillian Huot and her husband, Derek Huot of Scarborough; and his great niece, Addelyn Huot of Scarborough.  Jay wanted to be scattered at sea and interred beside his mother in close proximity to his brother at Brooklawn Cemetery in Portland.  Per Jay’s wishes there will be no service and in lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, P.O. Box 336, Westbrook, ME 04098.
