Karen Jo McFeters Obituary

Karen Jo Bellows McFeters died July 8, 2022, in hospital, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The loving man in her life, Lee, was by her side, as were other family members. A private memorial service will be held at a later date, at her graveside in Napoleon, Ohio.

Karen was born in Jackson, Michigan to Steve and Rosemary Bellows. She was in the first graduating class of Parkside High School, in 1964. She was a lifelong artist and landscape designer, both professionally and recreationally, as well as an avid gardener, piano player, and dog lover. She rescued many dogs throughout her life, and they were all truly family to her. Karen traveled extensively in her younger years, and lived much of her adult life in Colorado and Maine, as well as brief periods in Indiana, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Utah, and Idaho. While she did live her last decades in Jackson, her heart was always in Maine.

Karen was predeceased by a husband, John McFeters, and by her parents. She is survived by her partner Lee Guinn; her sisters, Rhonda (Keith) Summerford, of Sarasota, FL, and Stacey (Ian) Anderson of Invergordon, Scotland; her nephews, Steve Summerford of Atlanta, and Ryan Summerford of Sarasota, FL; and her great-nieces, Annabelle Summerford, Charlotte Summerford, and Wren Summerford. Karen was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.  Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cascades Humane Society in Jackson, Michigan, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
