<p>Joseph Matthews, 74, of Griffith, IN, passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.</p> <p>There are no services planned at this time. Cremation was chosen. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.</p> <p>Born on February 20, 1948, in Chicago, Ill, Joseph was the loving son of Joseph and Jenny (Petrakis) Matthews.</p> <p>Joseph served his country proudly in the Marine Corp. He then worked for a period of time in security. Joseph loved sports of all kinds, but his favorite was wrestling. Most of all, Joseph cherished his family dearly.</p> <p>Survivors include brother, James (Mary Ann) Matthews of South Carolina; sister, Patricia Matthews of North Vernon; nephews, James Matthews (Kim), and Mark (Corinne) Matthews all of South Carolina; great nephews, Cameron and Nicholas Matthews.</p> <p>Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jenny Matthews; brother, John Matthews.</p>Obituary
