Carole A. Zernechel, age 84, passed away on July 8, 2022. She was born in Canton, OH on October 25, 1937 to the late Gene and Ann (Hughes) Johnston. Carole lived a life of service. She was a past president of the Canton Plumbers Auxiliary, State Plumbers Auxiliary, and the Canton Garden Center. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she spent most of her days creating a loving home for her family. She took great care of her loved ones, especially those older than herself. Carole and her husband, Albert, enjoyed many activities together, mostly traveling. They took extensive trips throughout the United States and Europe; even going as far as Antarctica. They would spend time at their cabin in Canada and their place in Florida. Carole loved the water. She and Albert would relax on a houseboat and go jet skiing. They were big supporters of The Ohio State University football team and the OSU Cruise for Cancer. They would also attend the Massillon football games and band performances. She cared for many and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Albert Zernechel; sons, Scott (Jill) Zernechel, Michael (Mercedes) Zernechel; grandchildren, Alex, Morgan (Jason), Spencer, Weston, Sydney (Stuart); brother, Dr. James (Virginia) Johnston; nephews, Dr. James Johnston Jr., Jeff (Sarah) Johnston; and great nephew, James Johnston. Family and friends may gather at the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave NW, North Canton, OH 44720 on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 5PM to 7PM. Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 11AM. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
