James R. Stehlik Obituary

James (Jim) R Stehlik of Belgium passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, WI. Jim was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 18, 1949, the son of Emil and Marion Stehlik. Growing up in Milwaukee, he attended Boys Tech High School and graduated in 1967. After high school Jim attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he earned a BBA in Marketing. This is also where he met who would be his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (nee Bares). Jim was employed for 28 years at Freeman Chemical where he worked his way up through the transportation department. He then worked at Elefanten Shoes and Umi for the remainder of his working career. After uniting in marriage on January 29, 1972, Jim and Mary Ann built a home and family in Belgium, WI. They raised two daughters and eventually had 3 grandchildren. Jim found great enjoyment in being involved in his children's and grandchildren's sports and activities. Whether it was coaching, carpooling, photographing, or announcing- he was always their biggest fan. Jim found pleasure in so many of the simple things in life: being on a golf course anywhere with Mary Ann, Friday night fish fries, being behind a microphone at a Rocket's basketball or football game, going to the YMCA, planning and executing the perfect vacation, or taking in the sights and sounds in Camp Randall at a Badger Football game. He loved meeting new people, learning their stories, and telling plenty of stories of his own. Jim is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughters Julie (Matthew) Teunissen and Jenny Stehlik and grandchildren Brittany (special friend Brett Mullikin), Dylan, and Brooke Teunissen. He is further survived by his sister Ellen Todryk, brothers-in-law Philip (Paquita), Thomas (Suzanne) and Peter (Renee) Bares; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen Peck, brothers-in-law Ken Peck and Kevin Todryk, parents-in-law George and Cecilia Bares, and cousin Susan Zielinski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Bob Lotz at 11AM on Monday, July 11 at Divine Savior Parish-Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Hwy B, Belgium. The family will receive visitors on Sunday evening, July 10th, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave. Belgium, from 3-6PM and again at the church on Monday from 10AM until Mass begins at 11AM. Jim will be laid to rest later that day at St. Mary Parish Cemetery -Lake Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, WI.
