Walter “Wayne” Bolick, 90, of Hudson passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at his home. Born June 9, 1932 in Caldwell County, he was the son of the late Walter Pinkney Bolick and Bertha Smith Bolick. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce McRary Bolick; his daughter, Patricia Bolick; three brothers, Harold Bolick, Parks Bolick, and Lloyd Bolick. A Navy veteran, Wayne was the owner of Bolick Sporting Goods and a life-time member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church in Granite Falls. Yellow was his favorite color and baseball was his favorite sport. He loved people, especially his family, friends, and neighbors. Wayne never met a stranger. Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Margaret “Elaine” Bolick of the home; a daughter, Beverly “Kitty” Dollar and husband Raymond; one sister, Hazel Bolick Warlick; four stepdaughters (aka “his girls”), Roxanne St. Clair Myers and husband Allen, Michele St. Clair Lail and husband Steve, Angela Robinson Raby, and Robin St. Clair McGregor and husband Bill; two grandchildren, Derrrick Dollar and wife Kim and Derice Chester and husband Ronnie; four great grandchildren, Bailey, Kyndal, Madison, and Mallory; his step-grandchildren, Kenneth Hudgins and wife Megan, Megan Myers Burleson and husband Ryan, Melissa Hudgins Stumm and husband Paul, Alisha McGregor, Justin McGregor, Jacob Raby, Jeremy McGregor, Micheal McGregor, and Riley McGregor; seven step-great grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary, Caleb, Darrian, Lan, Oliver, and Colton; special friends, Sonny and Judy Walker; two special little girls, Addie and Ava; and his fur baby, Fox. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Mountain Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the US Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Amorem Hospice for their excellent love and care.
