Gerry Scheel, 91, of Florence passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022 with family present.  She was born in Northampton on May 17, 1931 to the late Joseph and Amelia (Bucinski) Malinoski.

She was a 1948 graduate of Northampton High School and employed by the former Pro Brush Company for several years until her retirement in 1984.  In August of 1952 she married the love of her life, George, and celebrated 63 years of marriage until he passed away in November of 2015.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lori (Scheel) and Al Fazzino of Avon, CT, her son, Mark Scheel of Northampton, four great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers Walter, Chester, Bernard, Edward, Joseph and Carl and her sisters, Virginia Finn, Victoria Moran, Bernice Matusiewicz Pawlikowski and Edith Matusek.  She was also predeceased by her grandson, Jon Mitchell, in 2019.

Calling hours at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Easthampton will be Friday, July 8 from 4 to 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday July 9 at 10 a.m. followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Haydenville.

The family requests no flowers be sent but instead donations be made to Gerry’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
