<p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Ronald L. Lanning Sr., 83, of Butler, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>He was born August 28, 1938, in Fort Wayne to George Harold Lanning and Ruby (Bender) Lanning.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Ron was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from December 7, 1955 to August 6, 1959.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>He married Marsha Ann Weicht on September 3, 1957, in Newville, and she passed away March 21, 2022.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Ron worked in management for Cooper Industrial Products in Auburn. In his later years, he was active in auctioneering.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>He was a member of the Butler American Legion Post 202 and Butler VFW.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Ron and Marsha enjoyed spending their winters in Okeechobee, Florida for over 20 years.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald L. Lanning Jr. and his wife, Maria Lynn, of Butler, and Todd Lanning and his wife, Jennifer, of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Jessica and Spencer Dunlap, Spencer and Grace Lanning, Jake and Melissa Taulbee, Tyler and Bridget Lanning, Sydney Day and Chelsea Day; seven great-grandchildren, Fiona, Clayton, Braxton, Kevin, Bentley, Kace and Colton; and five siblings, Iris Radecki of Fort Wayne, Bud and Darlene Marr of Butler, Rick Mansfield of Hudson, Cindy and George Carper of Spring Hill, Florida, and Sandy Harkin of Auburn.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>He was preceded in death by his father, George Harold Lanning; mother, Ruby Mansfield; wife of 64 years, Marsha Ann Lanning; son, Kevin Lanning; and brother, Larry Lanning.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2022, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10&ndash;11 a.m. Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Jeff Alexander will be officiating.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Newville with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy and Butler American Legion Post 202.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Visitation will be from 4&ndash;7 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the funeral home.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to National Kidney Foundation, American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer&rsquo;s Association.</strong></span></p>

Ronald L. Lanning Sr., 83, of Butler, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.

He was born August 28, 1938, in Fort Wayne to George Harold Lanning and Ruby (Bender) Lanning.

Ron was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from December 7, 1955 to August 6, 1959.

He married Marsha Ann Weicht on September 3, 1957, in Newville, and she passed away March 21, 2022.

Ron worked in management for Cooper Industrial Products in Auburn. In his later years, he was active in auctioneering.
