Cynthia S. Shepard, 82, a resident of The Meadows, passed away June 29, 2022 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. Cynthia was born in Connecticut on June 14, 1940 the daughter of the late Zigmont and Anne Symolon. She attended Hamden, CT schools, graduating from Amity High School. Cynthia worked in customer service in area stores including Nitsuko in Shelton, CT, the Jelly Mill and was a secretary for the Knights of Columbus in New Haven, CT. Cynthia enjoyed crocheting, knitting, needle point and travelling with her husband across the country. She loved networking with her friends and was active with the White Hills, CT Fire Department Auxiliary, past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and High Priestess of the Lady Shriners. She enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and especially Elvis Presley. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies. Cynthia is survived by her children Harry James Shepard, III (Clair-Ann) of Waterbury, VT, Brad Shepard of Shelton, CT and Kendell Jennings (Darrin) of Arlington, VT, brother Ronald Symolon of Cheshire, CT, sister Eleanor Zumbo of West Haven, CT, grandchildren Alicia Williams, Katlyn and Breanna Shepard, Brad Shepard, Jr, Blake Shepard, Matthew Dorso, Mandy Dorso, Darrin (D.J.) and Cooper Jennings, great grandchildren Patrick, Brielle and Julian. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Shepard Jr. whom she married September 9, 1961. Mr. Shepard passed away December 19, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Shannon Ann Shepard who passed away March 10, 2002. A celebration of life for Cynthia will be held Saturday July 9, 2022 from 2-4pm at the American Legion in Arlington. At Cindy's request, there are no visiting hours.
