Elaine Kay (Miller) Goodwin age 76, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on June 26, 2022. Elaine was born the daughter of Clarence and Laura Miller Miller on May 29, 1946. 
Elaine graduated from Nokomis High School in 1964 and she married Jack Goodwin on August 8, 1964 at Grace Methodist Church in Nokomis. They lived in Bangor, Maine, for four and a half years during his time in the service. They returned to Nokomis, Illinois, to make it their home and raise thier two children, Stacey and Justin.  
Elaine started her employment at Dog 'N' Suds as a car hop and then went on to work for Illinois Sheepskin. She ran a day care out of her home for many years. In 1996 she began working for Montgomery County Clerk and Recorder Office and retired after 17 years as the Chief Deputy Clerk of Accounts Payable. 
Elaine always had a heart for serving her community. While her children were young, she was an active member of the PTC, Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts. As time went on, she joined Woman's Club in 1987 where she held many offices and could be seen as the city's Easter Bunny for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, serving on several committees and helping teach bible school classes. Elaine volunteered at the original Nokomis Food Pantry and most recently at Nokomis Christian Missions. Elaine was also the chair of the canteen for the Red Cross Blood Drives.
Elaine is survived by her children, and grandchildren: daughter Stacey Goodwin of St Peters, MO; son Justin (Wendy) Goodwin of Nokomis; grandchildren Blain and Ripley Goodwin; sister Nancy husband Jeff Bradley of Nokomis; and Virginia Randles of Decatur, IL. Elaine was preceded in death by husband Jack Goodwin on June 2, 2021 and her parents.   
 Memorials in her name may be given to Nokomis Christian Missions, BRS Baseball Museum, and the Montgomery County Cancer Association. 
Visitation will be held Friday July 1st from 5:00 to 8:00 at United Methodist Church in Nokomis. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church with burial at Nokomis Cemetery.
