Herbert Duane Bickley

Herbert Duane Bickley ,90, formally of Newberry, entered heaven on June 21, 2022 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Born on March 18, 1932 in Newberry, South Carolina, he was the son of late James Edward and Mattie Timmons Bickley. Herbert was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Clemson University and served his country as a Captain in the US Air Force. He worked as an electrical engineer until retirement. Above all, Herbert loved and served the Lord and his family. He was the best daddy anyone could have ever had. Herbert was a true believer and follower of Christ. He had a close relationship with Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and now has returned to Him and is whole. He had a love for birds, enjoyed being outside cutting the grass, as well as tending to his vegetable garden. He is survived by a daughter, Susie Bickley Anderson and son-in-law, Donald Lee Anderson of Clemmons , North Carolina; son, David Wright Bickley and daughter-in-law, Koren Wilkerson Bickley of Melbourne, Florida; and grandchildren, Spencer, Seth, Tyler, Sophia, Ava, and Charlie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Boozer Bickley. What a beautiful reunion that must have been! Funeral services will be conducted June 26th, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry. In lieu of flowers, tribute donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org. Other meaningful ways to honor Herbert’s life are to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world, fill your bird feeders, be quiet and still and listen to the birds chirping and singing, go fishing, or take a deep breath and enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass.
