Delphine “Dolly” Hussar, age 90, of Canton passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022.

A life resident of Canton, she was the daughter of the late John and Virginia (Perretta) Sinay.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Hussar and son, David Hussar.  Dolly is survived by her son, Daniel Hussar, 3 daughters, Sharon (Cedric) James, Susan (Brian) Blosser, Lynda (Jeff) Hill, daughter-in-law, Denise Hussar; 11 grandchildren, JD (Britani) Hill, Kristina (Chad) Freeman, Geoffrey Chewning, Brittany (Jake) Speck, Heather (Tony) DiAngelis, Alexa (Anthony) Goffus, Justin (Chesley) Blosser, Jayme Blosser, Kristen (Adam) Milligan, Austin (Annie) Hill and Andrew Hussar; 14-1/2 great-grandchildren, Greyson Chewning, Junior & Sydney DiAngelis, Carter & Kamden Freeman, Harvey, Monroe & Malone Speck, Ellie & Maxwell Goffus, Allie Blosser, Kaydence Hill, Braylen & Adalynn Milligan and one Freeman on the way; brothers, Ron (Gloria) Sinay, Jerry Sinay and sister, Judy (Robert, decease) Glasser.

Dolly was a 1950 graduate of Timken High School, worked for The Timken Company and Myers Nursing Home.  At age 55 graduated from Stark State as a Physical Therapy Assistant and worked for Fernandez, Renner and Scaia Physical Therapy until her retirement.

She grew up a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church until becoming a parishioner at Christ the Servant Parish, where she was involved in the Ladies Guild.

She was an active member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol (SCS) since 1940, and in 2015 was SCS’s Fraternalist of the Year.   She competed in International Slets in track, field, calisthenics, gymnastics and volleyball.  Member of the physical fitness board as well as an honorary officer of Group 5 (Northeast Ohio).

She started the girls’ track & field program at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School where she was head coach for 12 years and athletic director for 8 years.  She was a track & field referee for many years, serving as the first woman President and Secretary of the Eastern Ohio Track & Field Officials Association. 

She loved to read, color, do laps in her swimming pool, and attend her every-growing families’ sporting/school events.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, June 27 at 9 AM, at Christ the Servant Parish with Msgr. Lewis Gaetano as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
