Patricia R. Smith

Patricia Ruth Smith, née Dolan, was born in White Plains, New York to Charlotte and Arthur Dolan. Pat grew up in a close, loving family with her sister Marion and brothers Arthur, Edwin and Robert, who predeceased her. Pat married the love of her life, Samuel Joseph Smith and they had two much loved daughters, Patricia and Kathleen. Pat and Sam celebrated over 50 years of marriage until his death in 1994. Pat was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, an officer and member of the White Plains Women’s’ Club and served as the volunteer Librarian for The Burke Foundation Rehabilitation Center for many years. She attended NYU for library science courses. Pat was an excellent water skier, accomplished bridge player and excelled at Scrabble, resulting in many family challenges. Pat is survived by her daughters Patricia (Pat) Heanue and Kathleen (Kate) Kaplan, their husbands John Heanue and Ian Kaplan, grandchildren Melissa Heanue, Megan Heanue Sachdev and her husband Ravi Sachdev, Christina Heanue, Justin Heinbuch and his wife Kate Heinbuch, Jessica Heinbuch, Caroline Heinbuch, great grandchildren Mia, Leela and Priya Sachdev, Addison and Henry Heinbuch. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, who loved their “Auntie Pat.” Her family was her greatest joy and she will be greatly missed. <br>A private burial will be followed later this summer by a gathering of remembrance.
