CONATSER, Mary Elizabeth - Age 98, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (Masks will be required to attend visitation), followed by a graveside service at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Owosso, 1106 S. Washington, Owosso. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Great Smokey Mountains Heritage Center, P.O. Box 268, Townsend, TN 37882-0268.

Mary was born June 4, 1924 in Wapakoneta, OH, the daughter of Homer Wendal and Helen Marie (Pausch) Holmes. She received her nursing degree from the University of North Carolina. She married Maurice Edward Conatser September 4, 1948 and he preceded her in death June 9, 2016. She had resided in Michigan for the past 6 years. Mary was employed by the City of Little Rock in the Public Health Department and the VA Hospital in Louisiana. She was also a dedicated homemaker and an educator at heart. Mary was passionate about education, especially literacy. She demonstrated this in her volunteer work as a reading aide at Chantilly, VA High School and as a reading tutor to both adults and children in her beloved Smoky Mountain community, Townsend, TN, where she spent her retirement prior to moving to Michigan. As a person, Mary was radiant – always poised, elegant, and beautifully dressed, with a smile that would light up any room she entered. She was also kind and continually reached out to those around her who needed companionship. Her beauty, both inside and outside, was timeless up until the very end.

Surviving are: her children, Ronald Edward (Rebecca) Conatser of Missouri, Donna Marie Riley of Durand, and Roger Lee (Maria) Conatser of Tennessee; 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
