MARY KATHLEEN "KAY" McGORRAY

She worked diligently through health setbacks and navigated safely and gracefully through the uncertainties of the pandemic over the past 18 months to be able to offer the blessing at her granddaughter’s wedding ceremony and to finally meet her first great grandchild. Beloved wife of the late James W. McGorray, Jr. Dear mother of Kathleen (Bob Soffer), Nancy Cullen (Aipa), Mary Susan, Mark, Ellen Boyle (Mike), Juliana Capuano, and Rob (Judy). Loving grandmother of Alana Uta (Justin) and Hinano Cullen; Diane Capuano Knight (Kyle) and John Capuano; Seamus, Declan, Emmett and Brogan McGorray; Ian (Jane), Evan, Emma and Marlee (Matt Turell) McGorray; and Andrew (Julie), Katie and Tricia Gauntner. Great-grandmother of Laura Grace, Lucas and Damien Uta. Dear sister of the late Bob Bixler (Moni) and Rita Duffy (Dick). Dear aunt and great-aunt to many. She is survived by, and thrived for so long because of, the great friends, neighbors, caregivers, church, CFM (Christian Family Movement) and PEM (???)* members she met along her way. Funeral Mass at St. Luke Church (Clifton Blvd. & Bunts Rd.) Saturday June 25, 2022, at 10:00a.m. MASS WILL BE LIVESTREAMED ON CHURCH WEBSITE. FRIENDS MAY CALL IN THE McGORRAY-HANNA FUNERAL HOME OF LAKEWOOD, 14133 DETROIT AVE. FRIDAY 4-7 p.m. If considering a memorial contribution in Kay’s honor, the family suggests donations to the West Side Catholic Center, St. Luke’s Church, Ursuline College Library, Help Foundation or Joel’s Place for Children. * (PEM Mystery: During their St.Augustine Academy years, Kay and a dozen friends formed a club which endured throughout their lives. True to their promise, they have never told anyone the meaning of the initials P.E.M. !)
