<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt;">Brian Shaw Langford died peacefully at Jefferson City Manor Care Center on the morning of June 20, 2022 after a short illness. He was born on July 25, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri; the oldest son of Peggy and Dick Langford. His earliest years were spent in Kansas City, Chicago, and Louisville before moving to New Jersey in 1954.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt;">Brian graduated from Holy Trinity Grammar School and Westfield High School where he competed in hurdling. An excellent swimmer, he also participated in long-distance swimming for the WHS swim team. During his high school summer vacations, he worked at various jobs on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where his love of the ocean began and where he restored a wooden rowboat named Success.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt;">After high school, Brian attended Kirksville State Teachers College. He worked several odd jobs for spending money; the most unusual being a transport driver for a local funeral parlor. He regaled us all with macabre stories for years and had a lighthearted and unique sense of humor. Brian had a varied sales career. He was most proud of being the top salesman for Pitney Bowes in Brooklyn, New York for two years in a row. In his later years, he drove school buses and was a transport driver for O&rsquo;Reilly Auto Parts.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt;">Brian is survived by his daughters, Katherine Deeken and Cynthia (Matt) McGrail of Jefferson City and four grandchildren; Ben, Brady, Breck McGrail and Rhia Deeken, his brother, Sandy, and sisters, Abby Langford of Westfield, NJ, and Kathy (Doug) Shaw of Carversville, PA, along with nephews, Max Langford and Zac Shaw and nieces, Alexandra and Hannah Shaw.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt;">In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Christina Langford, the love of his life, and his brother, Mike.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt;">Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Prayer Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with inurnment following at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt;">In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or North Shore Animal League America.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt;">Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109 (573) 636-3838. Brian Shaw Langford died peacefully at Jefferson City Manor Care Center on the morning of June 20, 2022 after a short illness.
