Dr. Lance I. Kovar, 52, passed away on May 18, 2022, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on December 24, 1969, in Passaic, NJ, the son of Sheila (Wilk) Kovar and the late Allen Kovar. He grew up in Clifton, NJ, and graduated from Clifton High School in 1987, Lafayette College in 1991, and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 1995. Dr. Kovar completed his Residency in The Internal Medicine Program at New York-Presbyterian Columbia University in 1998. He went on to complete his Cardiology Residency Program at Montefiore Hospital in 2001 and Interventional Cardiology at New York-Presbyterian Columbia Hospital in 2002. Dr. Kovar's illustrious career began at Advanced Cardiovascular Care, and he went on to join and become a partner at Crystal Run in 2014 where he remained until the end of his career. As an Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. Kovar was one of the original members of the Structural Heart Team at Englewood Health. It is one of only three in New Jersey and only one of seventy in the country and is recognized by the American Academy College of Cardiology.

Dr. Kovar married Beth, the love of his life, on May 28, 1995, and after having a family, they settled in Upper Saddle River, NJ. He was a devoted father of three children; Jake, 22; Alyssa, 20; and Leah, 16. Dr. Kovar was an avid New York sports fan and enjoyed attending Yankees, Rangers, and Giants games with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family, most especially on vacations and all family gatherings and celebrations. Dr. Kovar is survived by his wife, Beth; son, Jake; daughters, Alyssa and Leah; mother, Sheila Kovar; brother, Marc (Nicole) Kovar; sister, Julie (Adam) Koffler; in-laws, Alberta and Eli Weissman; sister-in-law, Mindy (Keith) Golin; sister-in-law, Lauren (Peter) Levine; and loving nieces and nephews, Rachel, Isabella, Hannah, Jason, Samantha, Josh, Justin, Jack, and Lily.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11:30 am at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel, 150 NJ- 4, Paramus, NJ 07652 Family will receive friends beginning at 10:45 AM. Burial to follow at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652.
