Wayne D Hubbard
Wayne Davis Hubbard was born in Oklahoma City on April 21, 1920, to Sybil Davis Hubbard and Dan Hubbard, the second of four children and the only son. He passed away on Monday, November 17th, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. Wayne grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Classen High School in 1938, after which he worked and attended college until 1942 when he joined the Armed Forces of World War II where he served for three years, beginning in Casa Blanca and ending in Germany, with the bulk of his service spent in Italy under the command of the famed General Patton. Following the war, Wayne attended the University of Oklahoma where he met his wife, Theda Williams. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and was immediately hired by what would become Amoco, where he spent his entire career in Texas and Oklahoma, retiring in 1982. After retirement from Amoco, Wayne volunteered at the American Red Cross as Manager of Transportation, where he delivered blood in emergency situations wherever it was needed, at all hours. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tulsa for many years, where he and his wife Theda served in various capacities. In later years, he delighted in greeting Sunday worshippers as they came in the Detroit entrance, attending the weekly men’s breakfast at First Baptist, and a weekly Veterans’ meeting at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian. Wayne was a gentle man, a strong and dedicated Christian who delighted in always looking for the best in everyone. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Theda Hubbard, his parents, Sybil and Dan Hubbard, his great-grandson, Adrien Barr, and his three sisters, Velma McBirney, Joan Means, and Eleanor Pratt. He is survived by two sons, Steve and Robert (Theresa) Hubbard, a granddaughter, Hailey Chitty, a great-grandson, Andre Barr, Jr., and several nieces and nephews, along with beloved friends, Charlotte Campbell and Nancy Hauger.April 21, 1920 - November 17, 201404/21/192011/17/2014
