Douglas James Graham

<p>In his 84th year, peacefully, with family by his side, Douglas James Graham passed on June 9th, 2022. He was the son of the late Hillis Graham and Isabella Bevan. He was born in Sullivan Mines, Quebec. He resided many years in Ottawa, Ontario and Norway Bay, Bristol, Quebec.</p><p><br></p><p>He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Janet Fraser, his children, Christopher (Valerie), Daniel, Janey (Rodney), Mark (Elizabeth), his grandchildren, Kimberly (Tom), Jessica (Paul), Brandon, Vanessa (Thomas), Brittany, Emily (Kamil), Lesley (Andrew), Nathan (Shelbie), Carley, Jared, Natalie and Douglas. His great grandchildren Bella, Oliver, Laura-Lee, Owen, Leo, Emmett, Tucker, Warren and Remy.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his brother Laird (Gayle), sister Ruth (John) and brother Bevan (Susan) and brothers-in-law, Tommy (late Laurentia) and Dalton Fraser. He is also survived by his Aunt Margaret as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his great granddaughter June, sister Phyllis and his brothers Elgin (Rilla), Jack (Charlene), sister Lorraine (Gord).</p><p><br></p><p>Doug had a wonderful sense of humour, and many laughs were shared by all who knew him. Young children brought him much joy as he loved to play and tease them. Over the span of his life, Doug was employed with the Quyon Farmer’s Cooperative, Spratte and Bradley Dairy, Clark Dairy and the Ottawa Board of Education. He also purchased the Horner farm on Hwy 148 and raised a large variety of different types of animals and breeds: Cattle, ostrich, emus, llamas, goats, pigs, chicks, hens, sheep, pigeons, rabbits, ducks, turkeys, etc. The farm was his pride and joy. He especially loved horses and owned many different breeds over the years. He loved showing horses at country fairs all around the Ottawa Valley. He also showed at the Ottawa Exhibition and the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. Many times, he took home 1st place and Grand Champion ribbons. He also loved heavy horses and many memories were made with family and friends enjoying Winter sleigh rides. During the late 1970’s, early 1980’s he was a member of the Antique Truck and Car Association and won many awards with his 1951 Ford Truck he named, Pontiaccackler. Through the years, Doug enjoyed volunteering with many different organizations within his communities.</p><p><br></p><p>Special appreciation and gratitude for the kind, compassionate care of CLSC staff, making special mention to Olga, Luc and Tommy. Thank you to Dr. Drachek and Dr. Fo rget.</p><p><br></p><p>As per Doug’s wishes, a Graveside Service will take place on Thursday, June 16th, 2022 in Norway Bay United Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Parkinson’s Canada would be greatly appreciated.</p>

I’m very sorry about the loss of ‘Uncle’ Doug.. I have memories of him and my Dad (Robert) , talking about horses for hours at the barn. May he rest easy knowing he is free from pain and suffering. My and my Dads condolences to Janet and all of the kids.
