Ellen Elizabeth Scott

Ellen Elizabeth Scott, aged 29, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, at her home in Athens, Georgia. She was born June 26, 1992, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Survivors include her parents, Mark Randall Scott and Angela Reece Scott of Spartanburg, South Carolina; brother Thomas E. Scott (Rhian) of Lansing, Michigan; grandparents Randall and Carolyn Scott of Carnesville, Georgia; and grandparents Ernest and Betty Reece of Easley, South Carolina. Ellen graduated from Clear Brook High School in Houston, TX. She was a talented pianist and cellist, performing with several local orchestras in Houston. She graduated in 2014 magna cum laude from Baylor University Honors College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics with a minor in Spanish. She achieved fluency, writing and defending her Honors College research thesis in Spanish. After graduating from Baylor, she worked at Aon Hewitt and then Abercrombie and Fitch but always carried a dream in her heart to become an attorney like her grandfather. After years of determination she began her studies at the University Of Georgia School of Law in 2020. She was a J.D. candidate for the class of 2023. Her untimely death came at a time when she was in full flight towards her dream. She loved her law studies and pursued them with passion. She had recently started work at the law firm of Cook & Tolley in Athens. Ellen was truly living her dream at the time of her passing. With a sharp mind and a quick-witted sense of humor, she loved to laugh and could see the funny side of almost any situation. Disciplined and organized, she carefully maintained her planner and calendars, created To-Do lists, and completed those lists. As a serious cat owner, she loved and adored her two rescue cats, Athena and Bee. Ellen was a lifelong voracious reader. She loved bookstores and libraries and carefully maintained a detailed journal of all the books that she read. Ellen’s love of life and determination will continue to inspire all those who loved her.
