Bettie Anne Shelton

Bettie Anne Shelton 88, of South Chesterfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Dinwiddie Health and Rehab Center. She was born on June 2, 1933, at her home in Petersburg, VA to Daniel Beauregard and Annie Belle Rudy Perkinson and was the wife of Alvin Morris Shelton Jr. She worked for many years as a substitute teacher’s aide in the Chesterfield County School System. She was also a very active member of the Wood’s United Methodist Church for many years. She was an adult choir member, was an active member in the WUMW and taught children’s Sunday school for many years. She also served as the Director of the Jr. Crafts Area for the Chesterfield County Fair for 30 years. She is survived by her husband of 69 years Alvin Morris Shelton, Jr., and her two sons Alvin Morris Shelton, III and Jeffrey Everett Shelton, Sr, and their wives, Nancy D. Shelton and Becky C. Shelton; four grandchildren Jeffrey Shelton, Jr., Jordan Shelton, Victoria Shelton Smith and Lauren Shelton; and four great grandchildren; Carter Shelton, Cole Shelton, Grant Shelton and Jeffrey Shelton, III, two sisters, Shirley Cimburke, and Mary Chalkley. A visitation service will be held at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home on 2033 Boulevard in Colonial Heights, VA. on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Wood’s United Methodist Church, 7200 Hickory Rd, Petersburg, VA with Reverend Mark Richardson and Reverend David Moorefield. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery. Arrangements will be handled by E. Alvin Small Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wood’s United Methodist Church.
