Mary Ann Orr Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we as a family announce the sudden passing of Mary Ann Orr (Nee Fleury) on May 23, 2022, at Brandon General Hospital, at the age of 74 years. Mary was born May 4, 1948, in Russell MB. She peacefully passed away with her family by her side to join loved ones that passed before her, parents, Eva Fleury (nee Vermette) and Joseph Fleury; brothers, Maurice and Paul and sister, Isabelle; sisters in law, Agnes, and Nancy; brothers in-law, Pete and Albert.

Mary is survived, and dearly missed by her loving husband of 39 years, Melvin James Orr; daughters, Sherri Moreau, of Roblin MB, Michelle Summers (husband, Ryan) of Rivers, MB., and son, Cory Orr (Deanna) of Brandon, MB. Grandchildren, Andrea (Ryan), Brian (Danielle), Nicole (James), Mark, Elizabeth, Devin, Samantha, Laurissa, Bryce, Breanna, Tyla, Danica, Kori, Kari, and 11 great-grandchildren. Mom will be lovingly remembered by sisters, Kate, Dorothy, Georgette (Norman); brothers Eugene, Allan (Lorna) and Alphonse, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mom had many hobbies, including jewelry making, beading, sewing, gardening, canning, and making her much loved relish. Mom’s most memorable employment was at the 580 Hotel in Binscarth. Mom sold Avon for many years, as well earned many achievement awards in doing so. Her real passions included Elvis, The Winnipeg Jets, and Blue Jay’s Baseball. But those paled in comparison to her love of the MMF, and our Ste. Madeleine Local, to which she was a member, and secretary-treasurer for many years. The Manitoba Metis Federation most certainly will miss her loyalty and devotion to the organization.

The loss of Mom will leave a huge hole in our hearts, but we will forever cherish our beautiful memories.

Prayers were offered on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at 7:00 pm from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Russell, MB.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated for Mary on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 10:00 am also from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Russell, MB with Fr. Paul Bisson officiating. Interment following in the Binscarth Cemetery.
