Linda Nunes Obituary

Linda (Ricciardelli) Nunes, age 86, of Concord, died peacefully and with grace at her home on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. She was the cherished wife and soul mate for 60 years of John Nunes. They were married on June 9, 1957 in St. Joseph Church of Medford. She was born in Villerupt, France on August 5, 1931 to her late parents, Artemio and Serafina (Russo) Ricciardelli. She and her family left France and returned to Italy during the Second World War. She grew up in the village of Santa Paolina in Southern Italy, and then attended university in Avellino, where she earned her teacher’s degree. She taught elementary school students in Avellino before coming to the United States in 1952. She resided in Medford, Lexington, and Libertyville, IL, before settling in Concord in 1977, where she worked for Sentry Insurance. She was an active member of the Thoreau Club, where she had many friends who shared in her good cheer. She was also a faithful parishioner at Holy Family Parish. Her family always came first. She often declared that her children were her greatest accomplishment, and her grandchildren were her greatest joy. In addition to her devoted husband, she is survived by her daughter, Brenda Dostie and her husband Andre of Framingham, her son, Mark Nunes and his wife Marti of Blowing Rock, NC, her grandchildren, Owen Dostie, Matthew Nunes, Adam Dostie, Joshua Nunes, and Hayleigh Nunes, and her siblings, Marino Ricciardelli, Angela Ciulla, and Pasquale Ricciardelli. She was also the mother of the late John A. Nunes and sister to the late Yvette Scimone. Visiting hours for Linda are on Friday, August 25th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 10 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, where she will be laid to rest beside her son. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PMC ID# 61115-6; or the Pan-Mass Challenge, http://profile.pmc.org/PD0188. Arrangements are under the care of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
