Irvin Andrew Rothfusz, son of Andrew and Anna (Geiszler) Rothfusz was born February 4, 1931, in McIntosh County, ND. Irvin was united in marriage to Helen Doolittle on August 17, 1952, in Linton, ND. After their honeymoon in Niagara Falls, NY, they moved to Sheyenne, ND where Irvin worked managing a lumberyard for three years. They then moved back to Ashley, ND in 1955 where Irvin purchased and operated a gas station. While living in Ashley, they began their family. In 1962, they moved to Milwaukee, WI where Irvin worked as a millwright and carpenter. In 1967 their family moved to Caledonia, WI where he continued to work in home construction, including starting his own concrete construction company which he ran until his retirement. In 2006, Irvin and Helen moved back to Ashley for their retirement. After a brief battle with cancer, Irvin was called back to the Lord.

Irvin’s faith was always important to him, and he was active in bringing that faith to others as superintendent of Sunday school for many years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and former member of the Optimist Club in Racine, WI. He loved pets, fishing, camping, and building, including houses. He had a long involvement with Boy Scouts as a scoutmaster, first in Cub Scouts, then in Boy Scouts. Irvin was always quick to help his neighbors and loved talking to everyone and was quick to make a joke bringing a smile to people.

Grateful for having shared Irvin’s life are his wife of 69 years, Helen; children, Joy (Craig) Malm of Mahtomedi, MN, Faith Rothfusz of Racine, WI and Ronald Rothfusz of Marshfield, WI; seven grandchildren, Sara Malm, Chad Malm, Adam Malm, Eric Malm, Emily Rothfusz, Brittany Rothfusz and Luke Rothfusz and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Karen and Shirlee, parents, Andrew and Anna and brothers, Clarence, Gary, Ralph, Paul, and Marvin.
