Sally P. Dietrich

Sally was born August 7, 1937 in Junction City to H. Pierce Powers and Margaret Harris Powers. She passed away May 20, 2022. She married Warren R. Dietrich on May 26, 1957 in the Universalist/Unitarian Church in Junction City and the couple has resided in Topeka since 1960. She and Warren had been planning for their 65th wedding anniversary, this month. Sally attended Junction City schools, Kansas State University, and graduated from Washburn University with a bachelor's degree in English. She worked for the west-central area YMCA of Topeka and the "Bookworm" bookstore. She volunteered at Aldersgate Village and Doorstep, and served as the Rescue Mission coordinator for her church, First Congregational, where she held several other positions in Women's Fellowship. She loved gardening and writing and was a member of AAUW. She passed her commitment to charitable work to her children, who continue in her spirit. Sally is survived by her husband, Warren, her children, Debbie Leasure (& her husband David) and Jon Dietrich (& his wife Kim), her grandchildren, Caitlin Blankenship of Colorado Springs (& husband Josh), Dylan Leasure of Virginia (& his wife Aryn Fromm), and Molly Leasure of Colorado Springs (& Victor Corral), and Sally's great grandchildren, Logan and Eleanor Blankenship. Sally's brother, Pat Powers, deceased, is survived by his family, Sally's nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 11th, 2022, 11 am, at Unity Church, 9126 SW 10th St, Topeka, KS 66615. Donations may be made in remembrance to the Topeka Rescue Mission, www.trmonline.org/needslist
