Everett C. Whilden

Everett C. “Smokey” Whilden, 86, of Vineland, NJ passed away at home early Wednesday morning May 18, 2022 where he had been under the care of family & hospice. Smokey was born & raised in Delmont, NJ and had resided in Vineland for the past 41 yrs. He was the son of the late Cornelius & Minerva (Brown) Whilden. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sherri L. Whilden & step daughter Lisa J. Lund. Smokey was a graduate of Millville High School Class of 1954. Before retiring, he owned & operated Red Rose Auto Sales which he operated for 20 yrs with Pat Dougherty. Smokey enjoyed cars starting at an early age pumping gas at his father’s gas station. He had a passion for motor sports and in his younger years was known for drag racing at the Atco Raceway with his 67 Hemi Dodge Coronet “Smokeys Bear”. Smokey enjoyed shooting pool, starting his skills at an early age in his father’s pool hall. He also enjoyed many trips to the Jersey Shore as well as local car shows. He made many friends in the area and will be sadly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years; Rosalie M. (Baranowski), Step son: Frank Lund & his wife Laurie, 3 grandchildren; Bradley Whilden, Gabby & Brianna Lund. Relatives & friends will be received on Tuesday May 24th from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, NJ where his Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:30 PM. Burial will be private in the Leesburg Methodist Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the South Jersey Animal Shelter, 1244 Delsea Dr. Vineland, NJ 08360.
