Elsie New

        Elsie Naomi New died May 15, 2022, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years 26 days.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.  
         Elsie was born April 20, 1936, in San Diego, California to Douglas and Ester Bloom.  She was raised and graduated school in San Diego around 1954.  Elsie married Bobby New on June 24, 1955, in Yuma, Arizona and were together for 64 years before Bobby’s death in 2019.  Elsie worked many jobs throughout her life, but she enjoyed dispatching at the Lexington Police Department the most.  She loved baking cakes and did that professionally for some time.  Elsie liked to paint on canvas, read mysteries and anything Stephen King, riding horses, going to the casino, and country dancing with her husband.  She loved going to the lake, camping, racing powderpuff stock cars, and collecting unicorns. Elsie loved spending time with her family and being a mother and grandmother.  
             Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Ester Bloom; her husband, Bobby New; her daughter, Deborah Wheeler; her son, Jeff New; and her sister, Cathrine Bloom.  Survivors include her son, James New and wife, Brenda; her grandchildren, Amanda and husband, Daniel, Sarah, James Jr., Mary; her great grandchildren, Ethan, Jaiden, Andrew, Aurora, Auraya; her brother, Wesley Bloom; and numerous other relatives and friends.
