Emily C. Mastromauro, 94, of Hazlet, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 16,2022 at Bayshore Hospital. She was born Emily Germano on May 28th 1927 in Wellsville, Ohio, and moved to Queens, New York, with her family in the early 1930’s. Emily met the love of her life Michael Mastromauro, and they married in 1950. In 1963, they relocated to Hazlet, NJ, where they would remain the rest of their lives together. She worked throughout the years in various positions, initially starting in accounts payable, then working as a substitute teacher and preschool teaching assistant, transitioning to the medical field working at Bayshore Hospital as a Central Supply Tech, and most recently as a front desk receptionist for Quest Diagnostics in Holmdel.

Emily was known as a gourmet cook, specializing in Italian cuisine. She loved making bread, and fresh pizza right in the oven, and always made from scratch. She was very involved in the Hazlet Seniors club in her later years, and was also very religious, always having her two pairs of glasses and her rosary beads wherever she went.

Emily thoroughly enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, where she tried her luck on the slot machines; and usually won. Emily was known around town for driving her originally owned 1987 Chevy Nova, which was a beautiful white color, and decorated with a small American flag. She also loved gatherings and parties and barbecues, but most importantly she was a loving mother and wife, who cared very deeply about her family. Even in her last moments, Emily whispered that she wanted to go to Vegas to play the slots with everyone. She was everyone’s “best friend,” and will never be forgotten.

Emily was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Judith Germano, her 6 siblings, and her beloved husband Michael Mastromauro. She is survived by her daughter Anne Fitzgerald her husband Albert of Matawan, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
