Uilke "Yul" Krikke Waterdown, Ontario Obituary

Uilke "Yul" Krikke

Peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022, the LORD called to himself Uilke Krikke at the age of 88 years. Beloved husband of Coby (nee VanDelden) for 63 years. Loved father of Marian and René Gagné, Debby and Bob Lodder, John and Tammy Krikke, Ray Krikke, Paul and Shauna Krikke, and Mark and Kirsten Krikke. Predeceased by his son-in-law Ubbo Meinen and will also be missed by his daughter-in-law Leona Krikke. Dear Opa to 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Egbert and Jelly Krikke, Greetje and Luuc Couprie, Henk Krikke †, Rikste † and Anne † Flonk , Folgert † and Dien † VanDelden, Geertje † and Albert Lozeman, Syzo † and Lynn VanDelden, Alie and Pete † Zuidema, and Henry and Jeanette VanDelden. We are so thankful for the life of a dear husband and father who has gone ahead of us to meet with God, as expressed in the words of his favourite psalm. He taught us to love the truths of the Bible and the communion of saints. He had such an intense curiosity about this world and though he could be serious when talking about issues in the church, he also had a joyful and humorous side. He loved travelling anywhere he could, eating new foods, learning words and phrases in many languages, meeting new people, experiencing jobs from lumberjack to journalist writing “columns from Canada” for a newspaper back in Holland, to owner of a cleaning business, to high school teacher. We often had visitors from around the world coming for Sunday lunch or living with the family. He took beautiful photographs of our family and of the amazing gardens he planted, and we know many will miss the birthday cards from “Krikke Studios”. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 at COVENANT CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 480 Woolverton Road, Grimsby where the Memorial Service will take place on Friday, May 20 at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Rolf DenHollander officiating. Private interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens before the Memorial Service. Donations to Anchor Association, 361 Thirty Road, Grimsby, ON, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. To leave a note of condolence on the Tribute Wall or find the live stream link for the Memorial Service, please go to kitchingsteepeandludwig.com. As the deer pants for brooks of water, so my soul pants for you, o God. My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:1,2
