Raymond Gene Strohm was born February 22, 1931 to parents Fred and Geneva (Shutts) Strohm in Weldon, Iowa. He grew up in the Weldon area and in 1948 he moved to Marshalltown. In 1950, Raymond was united in marriage to Donna Kudelka. Together they began a family of their own, raising three children. Gene was self-employed for Strohm Construction. He continued to work until his “retirement” in 1995. But, even through retirement he continued doing jobs pouring concrete part time. Gene and Donna divorced in the mid 1960's, but soon after they rekindled their relationship up until her passing in 2015. They loved to have fun. They went camping and they both loved music and dancing. In his free time, Gene loved to be in his garden and spending time canning pickles and vegetables for his family and friends. He never met a person that wasn't a friend. He was full of good humor and loved to make everyone happy. He loved to fish, hunt, and to cook for everyone who stopped by to visit. His favorite activity by far was spending all the time that he could with his children and his grandchildren. Family was everything to Gene, and everyone loved Papa. Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children Cheryl (Don) Bown and Lori (Gene) Leckness; his grandchildren, Willie Bown, Robbi (Michaela Nelson) Kluck, Cecelie (Blake/Drake McClenathan) VanNevel, Skoky (Kim Woosley) Strohm, Kenny “KP” Parham and Sara (Paul) McElroy; his great-grandchildren, Landie, Lane, Aliya, Amiya, Kaiden, Ashlyn, Gatlan, Shyla, Roscoe, Skoky Jr., Brayden, and Cynthia; alongside numerous other family members and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Kudelka; his sons, Bobby Strohm and John Frederick Strohm; his parents, Fred and Geneva Strohm; and his siblings, Neva, Pete, Bob, Al, Betty, and Dorothy.
