Roy Peter Cooper, age 78, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Bennett Place in New Albany. Born February 9, 1936 in Finsbury, England, he was the son of John and Norah (Farenden) Cooper. Mr. Cooper came to the United States in1963 from Perth, Australia after moving there with his family as a child. There is worked in the life insurance industry as a reinsurance accountant and as a credit clerk. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio State University in 1970 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1976. He retired as an attorney for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Louisville in 1998. He served in the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom from 1955-1957, and the United States Air Force from 1963-1967. He was also a musician, a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a past member of the bar association and enjoyed golf and research on the computer. Survivors include nieces and nephews: He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, the former Elizabeth Hall, to whom he was married on September 8, 1973, and who died on January 27, 2012. Private graveside services will be held with interment to follow in Sligo Cemetery, Sligo, Kentucky with full military honors.
