Reginald Warren Clayton, aged 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Warren, as he was known to all, came into this world on the stormy night of January 5, 1949, at Darlingford, Manitoba to Reg and Doreen (née Norman) Clayton.

Warren lived on the family farm near Darlingford until they moved to town in 1958. While on the farm he attended Calf Mountain School. Later, he attended Darlingford School then Nellie McClung Collegiate.

As a child, Warren was active in Cub Scouts and Minor Baseball. As an adolescent, he put on many miles driving the countryside with his friends.

After leaving school, Warren worked for McKinette’s Livestock, Pearce Construction, and Munro Construction. He then spent many years working for Nelson River Construction. After Nancie’s birth, he decided that he wanted to be at home more with the family. He went into business with Shorty forming Clayton Construction and later Clayton’s Feedlot Cleaning. During this time, he also drove a school bus in the winter.

In 1990, Warren purchased his first semi (a 1988 International 9300) and started driving for Snowflake Farm Supply. This would be his passion for the next 29 years during which he also drove for Cheval Transport, LPR Sabourin and Truck Freight International. When he had spare time, he also helped Kyle Sprung, Jeremy Rasmussen, and his son-in-law, Colin McIntosh.

After retiring from trucking, Warren and Lana went on a few bus trips to the Carolinas, Branson, Missouri, and the California Redwoods. He enjoyed every moment of these trips and spoke of them often.

When the kids were young, the family took many summer trips to Dryden, Ontario to spend a week at Cooks Cabins, creating many wonderful memories. Warren loved spending time at the lake where he would fish for hours, summer and winter. In the last couple of years, Warren took many opportunities to visit Pelican Lake, where he was fond of simply looking out on the water and casting a few hooks.
Spring and summer were favourite times of year for Warren. He spent countless hours mowing his lawn to perfection, tending to his garden, and helping Lana with her flowers.

Lastly, while Lana was the love of his life, Warren adored his five grandchildren (Cole, Griffen, Matteo, Brayleigh, and Shaelyn). It meant the world to him to spend time with each of them, letting them crawl all over him as infants and toddlers, teaching them how to play video games, working together to solve jigsaw puzzles, watching them play sports, and just chatting about anything and everything. Their company meant so much to him and he always looked forward to hearing about what each grandchild was up to.

After 24 years with leukemia and other health issues, Warren is now at rest.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 47 years, Lana, and their children Alan (Angela) Clayton, Jodi (Greg) McLean, and Nancie (Colin) McIntosh; his grandchildren Cole McLean (Sydney), Griffen McLean (Chloe), Matteo Clayton, Brayleigh and Shaelyn McIntosh; and his siblings Shorty (Jean), Gordie (Dawn), Glenn (Jackie), Shelley (Vince) Hink, and his brother-in-law, Jim McLeod.

Warren was predeceased by his parents, Reg and Doreen, and his sister, Wendy McLeod; his mother- and father-in-law, Alan and Mary Gardiner; his brother-in-law, Dean Gardiner; and his nephew, Ken McLeod.
