<p>John Powell Haverly, 74, passed away May 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.&nbsp; Born June 25, 1947, John was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Collins) Haverly.&nbsp; He is survived by his sister, Charlotte Buckley , of Abington, MA, his brother, Henry Haverly and sister in law Carol of Lakeville, MA, and Hobe Sound, FL; Nieces Christine Ortega of East Bridgewater, MA,&nbsp; Maureen Buckley of Abington, MA, Mary Deschamps of Abington, MA and Erin Burton of Whitman, MA.&nbsp; He is also survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews and a great grandniece.&nbsp; John was predeceased by his brother in law, Robert Buckley.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>John was born in South Boston and educated and lived in Quincy for many years.&nbsp; He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam era, stationed in Korea.&nbsp; John was a devote Catholic and his religion was an important part of his life.&nbsp; He enjoyed creative activities and writing poems.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Visitation will be held at the Quealy &amp; Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington on Monday May 16 from 4 to 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held&nbsp;Tuesday May 17 at 10:30am in&nbsp;St. Bridget Church, Abington. Interment will follow at the MA National Cemetery, Bourne.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson&rsquo;s Research at&nbsp;www.michaeljfox.org</p>
