Jessie Johnson Obituary

"A TRUE LIFE OF A COWBOY"

When my time comes to take that last ride.

You can bet it'll be with a smile.

Cause I love to ride and I'll be going home.

So I'll enjoy it to the very last mile.

Jessie Johnson was born January 27, 1965, in Weimar, Texas to the late Geraldine "Pee-Wee" Johnson and Wally James Carter. He was a devoted father, who enjoyed roping, riding horses and watching his son team rope. And he loved his Zydeco music.

He attended Weimar Public School, until he moved to Houston, Texas where he continued his education at Dowling Middle School and Jack Yates High School, graduating in the Class of 1984. Jessie accepted Christ and joined Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jarvis W. Nelson, until his health failed.

Jessie departed this life on May 13, 2022, he was preceded in death by his parents, his uncles and aunts, a nephew and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Karen Rhodes Johnson; one son, JaCobi Johnson-Rhodes; one daughter, Jennifer Riley; one stepdaughter, Chardae Rhodes; one sister, Lillie Ann Johnson; two brothers, Frank Johnson (Dorothy) and Louis Ray Johnson (Florida) both of Houston, TX and two grandsons, Ja'veon and Ja'ceon Allen. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

HE SHALL REST AT: GOOD HOPE MEMORIAL CEMETERY  WEIMAR, TEXAS
