Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Jo Hunter, age 93 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Rev. Mike Head will officiate. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Hunter died Friday May 13, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born October 28, 1928 in Putnam County, TN to the late Charlie and Fannie Hood Roberson. Jo owned and operated her beauty salon, Jo's Beauty Shop, on Willow Avenue in Cookeville for 47 years. She loved her work and was passionate about taking care of her ladies. She was a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother and was a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Cleston T. Hunter; and by siblings, Perl Dillon, Daisy Beasley, Pansey Roberson, Hollis Roberson, Opal Peek, Lucille Miller, Charles Jr. Roberson, Henryetta Roberson, and Juanita Roberson. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sheila Hunter; granddaughter, Dr. Staci Hunter; sister, Anne Gaw, of Hilham; and by close friends and neighbors, Shirley Carter, Virginia Bailey, Orlene Carter, Marie Roberson, Jerry and Carol Joyner and David Davenport. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
