Raymond Underwood

After a courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma, Raymond (Ray) Joel Underwood, Age 79, of Brooksville, Florida passed into Heaven on May 14, 2022, with his niece by his side. Ray, the son of Josephine and Raymond Underwood, was born on November 27, 1942, right here in good ole' Brooksville. Raymond was a graduate of Hernando High School, he was a Navy Veteran and also worked as a rehabilitation counselor after earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of South Florida. Ray traveled extensively to places including Bora Bora, Tahiti, Europe, South America, and all the states in the U.S.- his favorite being Hawaii. Ray also had a great passion for history, National Parks, and trivia and could rival most anyone on Jeopardy. Ray loved his family, animals, the Gators, a good movie, swimming, and chocolate Frosty's. He will be immensely missed, and his memories will forever be treasured. In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his brother, Alan (Woody) Underwood; his stepmother, Edna Underwood; and his stepsister, Susan Wall. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Pam Underwood (Woody); nieces, Christina(Christy) Wall; Allison Underwood Mahoney; and Mary Catherine (Cathy) Wall Roberts (Chris); a nephew, Tyrus Underwood (Sara); and great-nephews, Christan Roberts, Rexland Roberts (Cathy); and Asa Underwood(Tyrus); many cousins and friends. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the Humane Society of the Nature Coast, Brooksville, FL.
