Anna Mae Alwine Obituary

Anna Mae (Hawkins) Alwine, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, May 13, 2022, at UPMC Hanover Hospital.

Anna Mae was the wife of Dale E. Alwine.  Together they shared seventy-four years of marriage until his passing on January 11, 2021.

Born December 18, 1922, in Spring Grove, she was the daughter of the late Curvin and Carrie (Luckenbaugh) Hawkins.   She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Paul and Leroy Hawkins.

Anna Mae was a 1940 graduate of Eichelberger High School.  She was a member of The Faith Community of The Brethren Home.  She was a church secretary at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, York, retiring after 25 years of service.   Following retirement she became a Red Cross volunteer, giving 31 years all to the Hanover Hospital.  She also volunteered for 16 years in the Bee Hive Gift Shop at the Brethren Home.

Anna Mae is survived by her daughter, Karen Braker of New Oxford; a grandson, Ryan VanLiew and wife Linda of Hoboken, NJ; a granddaughter, Kristin VanLiew of Lebanon, PA; a niece, Lois Reed and husband Richard of Stoverstown; other nieces and nephews; and her beautiful Nipsy III.

An internment service will be officiated by Pastor Linda Titzell.  Burial will be held privately at Marburg Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ann Mae, may be made to The Good Samaritan Fund, c/o The Brethren Home, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
