Robert M. Lewis

<p>Robert M. Lewis, 69, of Willimantic, CT passed away on May 10, 2022. He was born August 21, 1952, in Willimantic, CT. He was the son of the late Col. Eugene &ldquo;Jake&rdquo; H. Lewis and Mary (Obsharsky) Lewis. Robert was stationed in Germany, serving in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He graduated from Windham High School class of 1970 and later took up studies at Thames Valley 4-H. Bobby spent much of his career working for Willimantic water works, Brand-Rex, and UConn. His greatest joy was to be in his garden playing in the soil. He became a Master Gardener and had given talks on composting. Bobby was extremely passionate when it came to earth sciences and chemistry. He also gave his time to helping many others when there was the need. He is survived by his brothers Eugene and Gregory Lewis. He is also survived by his children Justin Lewis, Mary Walke, Catherine Lewis, and Robert Lewis. Bobby leaves behind three beloved grandchildren Wesley Walke, Chase Lewis, and Oliver Lewis. He also leaves behind his loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Douglas, Carlton, and David Lewis predeceased Robert. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. There will be a memorial service held in the new Willimantic cemetery on Monday, May 23, 2022, beginning at 1:00 pm. Bobby will be interred with full military honors. Bobby and I first met as very young teens, and his smile and gentle soul were hard to resist. I am so sorry to hear that he left us much too soon. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and all who loved him. Rest easy, Bobby.
