Eugene Forrest Obituary

Eugene was born on March 29, 1936, seventh of ten children bestowed on Joseph and Velina Forrest.  He left school prior to graduating to take a job in Uranium City.  He sent most of his pay cheque home in order to assist his parents in building the Christopher Lake Hotel.

On August 25, 1961, he married Fern McBeth.  Together they owned and operated the Christopher Lake Hotel until 1975, Rainbow Cabins and Motel in Cochin from 1975 to 1976, and Fern’s Groceteria at Murray Point from 1977 to 1984. He and Fern moved to Rose Valley, in 1985 where they owned Forrest’s Fine Foods until 2007 when they retired.

Eugene loved to tend to “his orchard” which consisted of a few apple trees, some cherry trees, and a saskatoon berry bush.  He enjoyed dancing, fishing, golfing and telling off-colour jokes.  He loved to play cards with family and friends.  He played many sports in his youth and enjoyed watching them on TV in his later years.

Eugene was pre-deceased by his wife Fern in 2018, his son Gordon in 2004, his father Joseph in 1971, his mother Velina in 1991, two sisters, Elnor in 1955, and Valdora in 2017, and three brothers, Alvin in 1972, Paul in 1988, and Lorne in 2013.

He will live on in the memory of his son Harold, daughter Kathy, granddaughters Melissa, Hailey, Kayla and Lauren, and great grand children Joseph and Amelia.  As well, Eugene will be remembered by his brother Lloyd, sisters Marie, Margaret (Al), Faye (Floyd), his brothers and sisters in law and numerous nieces and nephews
