Ret. Cookeville Police Dept. Capt. Bobby Lee Anderson, age 50, passed away suddenly Friday May 13, 2022 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Bobby was born July 12, 1971 in Fayetteville, NC to Ophelia Hollis Anderson of Cookeville, and the late Ollie Leroy Anderson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Alton Anderson. Bobby retired after a 30 year career serving in law enforcement. He began his career at the Livingston Police Department, where he worked for 10 years before moving to the Cookeville Police Department. Bobby's work with the CPD included stints as Field Training Officer, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Investigator, Criminal Investigations Division Commander, Crisis Negotiation Team Commander and Public Information Officer. He is also a graduate of the FBI's National Academy. Bobby was an active member of Stevens Street Baptist Church., where he served as life group leader and was involved with mission work in Romania. After retirement, he served as facilities specialist with the church. Above all, Bobby was devoted to his Lord and his family. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer Anderson; sons, Dewayne (Elizabeth) Anderson of Hilham and Sean Nash of Sparta; daughters, Tiffany (Scotty) Smith of Livingston, Tabitha (Chris) Ruby of Sparta, Katie (Joe) Kashner of Cleveland, TN, and Emily Anderson of Sparta; brother, Calvin Anderson (fiance, Nancy Frey) of Cookeville; sister, Norma Anderson (Jack Howard) of Algood; grandchildren, Justin and Briella Smith, Josie, Lila, and Norah Kashner; and several niece and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 17 at Stevens Street Baptist Church. Pastor Scott Parkison will officiate. Interment with Police Honor Guard Honors will follow at Saylors Cemetery in White County. His family will receive friends Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the church and again Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time. Pallbearers will be Dustin Rawls, Phillip Baker, Adam Ely, Carl Sells, Darrin Stout, Scott Winfree, and K.C. Clement. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cookeville Police Department and staff at Stevens Street Baptist Church.
