<p>Leona S. Myers</p><p> Leona S. Myers 83, of Rexford, N.Y. and formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2022, with her loving family at her side at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, N.Y. She was born on May 15, 1938, in Camden, N.Y., a daughter of the late Lucius C. and Elizabeth D. Skinner. Leona was a graduate of Camden Central High School and was a member of St. Peter’s Church of Rome. On July 6, 1963, she was united in marriage to Donald T. Myers at St. John’s Church in Camden, N.Y. Don passed on June 15, 2008, just shy of their 45th wedding anniversary. Leona was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren and family. There was no ask too great that she would not do for her family. She knew everyone’s favorite cookie and let no holiday pass without baking each and all. A very generous person, she loved finding the perfect gift or Christmas ornament for everyone she knew. An avid reader, Leona instilled that love of reading in her children &amp; grandchildren. She enjoyed British mystery novels and pursued family genealogy research as if she were Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple. Her creativity was boundless, she loved to knit, sew and make crafts of all kinds. She enjoyed watching hockey, basketball, and any sport or activity her grandchildren were involved in. She traveled extensively through the US with Don before he passed and continued exploring the world with her children and grandchildren in later life. </p><p> She is survived by four daughters, Mary Beth and Matthew Ryan, Rexford, N.Y., Andrea and Patrick Mastrangelo, Rome, Heidi and David Ryder, Clay and Donna and William Meyring, Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Seth and Jake Ryan, Victoria, David Jr. and Nicholas Ryder, Nathan and Cora Meyring; a brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Marilyn Skinner; two sisters-in-law, Sonia Myers and Peggy Hilton. Leona was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Thomas Myers and Jerry Hilton.</p><p> A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 9 A.M. at St. Peter’s Church of Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday from 3-6 P.M. at Strong-Burns &amp; Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery.</p><p><br></p>
