Carolyn Ann Morris

Carolyn Ann (Scheel) Morris, better known as “Bell” to her nieces and nephews, age 79 of Council Bluffs, IA, passed away on May 11, 2022. She was born in Harlan, IA on January 26, 1943 to Walter and Henrietta (Ingwers) Scheel. Carolyn grew up on the family farm near Corley, IA helping the family with different chores and took care of the chickens and the garden. Carolyn attended Harlan Community High School and graduated with the class of 1961 and worked at ASCS there in Harlan. She then married Roger G. Christensen and later worked at Jacobs Tool as a secretary for several years. Their daughter, Jody, was born in February of 1968. She later married Thomas O. Morris in December of 1973 and moved to Council Bluffs. She worked at welders Supply Company for several years as a bookkeeper in Omaha, NE and then at Struyk Turf in Council Bluffs and later as a retail Associate in jewelry at Sears for 10 years, retiring in 2010. She enjoyed dancing and listening to Polka music, collecting old cookie jars, antique glass and going to auctions, flea markets and craft shows. She enjoyed her flower garden and on Saturdays, spending time shopping with her friends and daughter. She loved spending time with her grandson watching him grow through the years and to being so proud of him for starting his own business and her great grandchildren bringing her much happiness and joy. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sisters Arlene Buck, Betty Holtz, Marilyn Nielsen and brother Robert “Bob” Scheel. She is survived by her husband Thomas Morris of Council Bluffs, daughter Jody Rau of Council Bluffs, grandson Aaron Rau and wife Natalie of Council Bluffs and two great grandchildren, Declan and Haedyn, sister in law, Donna Scheel of Jacksonville, Iowa; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A reception in Carolyn's honor will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, 1:00 -3:00 p.m. in the Hoy-Kilnoski Community Room in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She will be interred in the Omaha National Cemetery at a later date. The family will direct memorials.
